Helping the Community
We Support Charitable Organizations
The Abbot’s Thrift supports worthy causes throughout the community. We employ and provide jobs for many in the San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, and Santa Cruz County areas. We offer support through the provision of goods and supplies as well as monetary donations. Here are some of the groups in our area that we help.
St. Lawrence Academy
From their website:
"St. Lawrence Academy is a nonprofit Orthodox Christian parochial school. We are located in downtown Felton, five minutes from Scotts Valley, CA, in Santa Cruz County. Our school was founded in 1990 in Ben Lomond under the name Saints Peter & Paul Academy. The school began teaching grades six and seven and over the years has been able to expand and offer a full curriculum for grades K–8. We offer small classes where teachers can give attention to every student, and we welcome all who can subscribe to our mission statement."
Valley Churches United
Almost 30 years after the 1982 disaster, Valley Churches United Missions continues its “Missions of Love” in Ben Lomond, raising and distributing eleven million dollars in assistance. The mission serves over 400 families each month with emergency food, crisis rent, utilities, medical aid, school supplies, and disaster relief. The 2005 Valley Christmas Project impacted 11,095 lives in Santa Cruz County, operating with 99% volunteers.
